Alex Kratena
Alex is a multi-award winning bartender and co-founder of the drinks industry non-profit organisation P(OUR). His work includes Muyu liqueurs and bars project Tayēr + Elementary.
Formerly Head Bartender of Artesian, London, Alex led the bar and its team to unrivalled international access with multiple awards, including being named ‘World’s Best Bar’ for four consecutive years at the World’s 50 Best Bars Awards from 2012 until their departure in 2015. Alex has also collected several personal awards including ‘Best International Bartender’ at Tales of the Cocktail’s 2012 Spirited Awards, and was named ‘Bar Personality of the Year 2013’ by Imbibe Magazine.
Alex has been featured in The Creators List 2016 as one of the 40 most influential individuals shaping the future of the global bar industry. In 2018 P(OUR) was awarded the prestigious Premio Nonino Risit d’Aur prize for its Amazon project, the awards are now in their 43rd year and were created to support and develop rural culture.
In 2018 Harpers Wine & Spirits listed Alex in The Hot 50; a list recognising key influencers, innovators and drivers of quality drinks offers in the on-trade. In 2019 Alex was listed in Bar World 100 by Drinks International as one of the industry’s most influential figures. In 2020 Monica Berg and Alex Kratena won the Bar Innovators Of The Year Award by Class Magazine.
After landing in the World’s 50 Best Bars list at No.5, a higher position than all other new entries, Tayēr + Elementary was awarded Highest New Entry 2020. During Covid19 crisis Alex and Monica launched Tayēr RTD; a collection of ready to drink bottled cocktails, which bring together the best of classics and contemporary flavours.
